What can i use as a float stop.

What can i use as a float stop ?, i am no good at slip knots and rubber bands don't work.

Any ideas lads ?.

Hi mate, no constructive ideas I'm afraid although I am not having problems with the elastic band approach.

All I am doing is a basic knot but making sure it is pulled really tight. This still allows you to slide the band up if needed but stops the float.

Sure someone onn here will have better advice. Phil

Hi mate, I use a "semi-sliding" crimp: Get an oversize crimp, insert a short length of neoprene tube, place the combined device on the line then crush the crimp to the point where it will stay put but the tubing will still allow some sliding. Put a bead either side if you want.

Mustad Rig Stops work for me.

Stop knots are easier than tying a hook on, use 12-15 lb line and make a circle (large enough to put your hand through) put this along side your mainline and take a loose end around the mainline and through the circle 4-5 times ,moisten pull tight and trim the ends of the knot to 3-4 mm. A small bead will prevent the knot going through the float. Power Gum is slightly better to use than mono for the knot as it snags less on the spool when casting and slides to alter depth more easily. Its a lot less complicated than i`ve made it sound ....give it a go.

power gum is the best stuff to use. amnesia comes a close second though.
