Hi i spent a week in southport last june, what a load of tripe, the tide goes out nearly 3 miles, if you fish the pier your lucky if the tide reaches it, if it does your lucky if its over 4ft. having said that, if you can fish a night tide, theres a sluice just to the right of the pier about 50 yds or so and thats supposed to be good when conditions are right. theres parking opposite where your fishing. thats about as much as i know, except if you choose the pier which opens around 10ish, go to the right hand corner of it, not the left. Tightlines...Mick

Closest fishable places to Southport are Formby point (not recomended unless you know the beach well , lots of gullies that fill in behind you) . Flattie bashing on the Alt estuary at Hightown or Hall Rd at Crosby . Other than that its across the Ribble to the Fylde coast (Check out the venues post at the top of the NW forum) .

Tight lines
Andy

PS for manic muppet , ever wonder why you dont see any reports on here from Southport Mick ??? devil devil devil

Forget Southport itself, but try Crosby from the promenade near the Coastguard station, or Formby from the beach, or failing that, try Guide Road at Hesketh Bank. All within 20 mins of Southport. Cheers. Roberto

big hug HI MORGEE you are over our side at the end of December. you can fish Hall Road at Crosby. But do not like to fish there myself. Tides too big to fish up the river. But you can fish Rock Channal at low or Kingslake at high on New Brighton side.
