lo all,
a few reports for ya -
fished lee on solent end of last week, night tide, me and my mate pulled out fish after fish, whiting with a few pout in there for good measure, lost count in the end but it was somewhere between 15-20 fish each!!
Not all the whiting were sizeable, infact some were dinky however we ended up with 4/5 each for the table - good busy fun fishing all the same - caught on lug and squid
Went over to the island friday afternoon, fished Yarmouth Fri night, first cast i'm unhooking a doggie, happens to look up and my mates rod got hammered, luckily he was watching it or it may have gone for a swim - after a while he manages to bring in a huge cod - weighed in @ 6Kg or for us oldies just over the 13lb mark - first cast too.
My mate was well pleased as you can imagine
Half hour later we're chatting in front of his rods, and bang bang rod starts again, but then bends and bends and bends some more - heaving into it my mate says it's even heavier than the last one, eventually after a good but careful battle with line stripping off the reel he managed to beach a bloody conger, was fun getting that up the beach - It weighed 10Kg or 22lb - it was amazing seeing 2 large fish being caught within an hour like that.
The cod was kept, and a grumpy conger returned after the required pictures being taken.
Oh and i had a doggie and 1 pout, my mate earned the £5 bet that night and only beat me by about 34lb
i do have some other pics of my mate holding the conger etc but will have to ask him if he wants them put up before doing so .
Went there the following night but unfortunately there was a comp on and our exact spot was taken, which was frustrating especially as a 9lb cod was hauled in. - we ended up with whiting that night, good size too - sunday night fished Sandown and it was crap just pout.
All fish fell to lug/squid.
