Fished Hayling yesterday 3pm-9.30pm approx 300 yds to the right of the funfair, was my first time fishing this venue.
Didnt have a bite till it got dark which was a nice size whiting.
I think all in all i must have had 15plus whiting some of which were quite big even bigger than the ones i was catching last week at town quay, all fish returned though.
I used Rag, squid and mackerel the whiting seemed to prefer the squid.
I even put a whole side of mackerel on a pennel rig hoping for a nice bass but it wasn,t to be, the whiting were getting it before anything else, i must say made a change from the crabs which seem to get the bait in southampton water..
I also tried whole squid-no luck..
Am definetly gonna try hayling again though no big bass but plenty of bites and plenty of whiting and always the chance of something big picking up ya bait. |
