Slipper limpet are very good bait, i always shell `em out onto newspaper (use a heavy bladed but blunt knife) and let them dry out a bit before using them.
If you prepare them at home it might pay to put them on a bait needle and elastic them into a `limpet sausage' as it can be difficult to get a large ball of them to stay on the hook. Cheap bait , fiddly but well worth it.

Sometimes Waitrose reduce the price of their mussels by half at the end of the day - making them well worth buying. I find them very slightly less fiddly than slipper limpets, but slipper limpets have the advantage of being free, of course.

Never had much luck with the slipper limpet on the Brighton coast as they dont seem to be native to that area. Move along the coast to Normans bay tho and you gotta dead cert!

Slipper Limpets have been there for at least the 25 years that I can remember! I'd have thought the fish would have got used to them by now, seeing as so many empty ones are washed up. I'll keep using them while they're there, they look like a great bait.

I saw slipper limpet in action on Brighton Marina on Wednesday, the chap next to me baited up 8 of them and caught 5 pound Ballan Wrasse. I got pics on my computer but need to e-mail to one of you folks who knows how to work it.
