4 weeks on from my previous trip to dungie, couldnt wait for the next big springs, luckily recent storms faded at the beginning of the week, so I was able to dig some yellowtails, and armed with a box of squid, fished Dengemarsh again from 18.30-01.30, my usual spot near the Diamond.
Very quiet to start, ie, whiting every cast!, then tide started moving about 1 hour before high, and codling started feeding. Had 7 in total, all between 1lb and 1lb12oz, except biggest, at 4lb 11oz. All fish either filleted and frozen, 1 eaten next day!
Used blue and red springy gemini's, holding was no problem, not too much weed, though tip ring got blocked regularly with the fine stuff.
Have some photos but havent uploaded anywhere to host them yet, will do if i find somewhere. |

hi M, Anywhere from the boats, to the powerstation frontage (cross and diamond) is worth a try, always pick the full moon springs from september to december and fish at night, after a big blow, with fresh lug and big fixed leads - cant fail - usually!!
To get there, head for Lydd, and its generally signposted from there, though you can hardly miss the powerstation at night!
Sorry havent a clue about north kent and thames estuary, only ever fished as far up as Deal. |

Thanks Sue, will check out image shack, see if i can get some pics on.
Pilg, the diamond is a sighting mark (i think) located along the perimeter fencing of the power sattion, 1 hour before high, and 2 hours after seems to produce the biggest tide run, this is when the codling feed, probably only time they get a look-in with all those whiting around, i dont bother casting close, i just lob it as far as i can, which just proves you can catch em at 80yds!! (thats why i only fish in the dark, means i cant see how bad the casts are lol !!) |
