Hi all
Has anyone tried using prawns as bait?I ask as the cods natural diet includes them so picked up a pack today and thought I would give them a try.
How would you bait them up?Was thinking with a bit of squid.
All replies gratfully recived.

I bought a bunch of frozen king prawns from Tesco as bait shops had closed. Figured it was probably cheaper than lug as they are a good size and you get about 30/40 to a pack for about a fiver.
If using a big hook, they seem with a bit of persuasion to slide up and around the hook, so you can present them a bit like lug. Although when using smaller hooks just cut them up into chunks and put the desired amount on.
Whiting had no problem taking them, worked as well as anything else I have tried. Caught a tiny cod (literally 4 inches) and some pout with them as well so guess they will go for it. |
