Hi.
I'm thinking of taking my daughter out for a one-on-one trip to either Clacton or Walton pier at the weekend. I've been told that keeping far left at Clacton will avoid the snags but that's about it. Ultimately I'd like her to do most of her own work and would be thrilled even if she pulled in a tiddler (more than I usually get anyway).
Does anyone know which venue would be better for this? Can anyone help with maybe a tip or two?
Knowing my luck, she'll pull out a real stonker that'll make my life at home a nightmare.
Thanks in advance. |

SCitter,
Concrete is the main man for advice on Walton pier- but- you can't fish the left hand side of the pier as the train runs down this side (unless its different in winter?)- you can fish off the left corner right at the end of the pier and yes- I've heard this is a good spot- the pier can be a bit snaggy in places so it might not be that great for a youngster on her first fishing trip but Concrete might be able to advise better- of course if it all goes pear shaped there's always the rides etc on the pier- and lucky for you they even have a merry go round with a police car on it - ding- aling a ling- sorry- couldn't resist.
Alternatively its a very clean beach to fish from the shore and we've caught small bass and flatties from 20 yards off the sea wall at high tide

Thanks Stuart,
I know what you mean about the snagging. Believe me, if you can get snagged, you can bet your life that my little girl will get a real mother.
As for the Merry-Go-Round comment.......................I know where you live!!
Catch ya later. |
