Hi everybody,

Just joined up and trying to get back into it.
Last time i went fishing was the begining of the year at Langard Felixstowe, where all i managed to get was short tempered as it was the first time using a Multi.

So now im going to get rid of the the Multi and get a F/S which im more ucustomed to.

So hoping to get some fishing in soon and meet up with a few locals as im abit "Billy no mates" on the fishing front.

Anyway

Cheers. V

Hi Vlad, welcomeon board.

Persevere with the multiplier. I had the same problems but just set the brakes high and let them out a bit at a time and you'll get it.

I only use the fs for night fishing now.

Cheers

Duncbooth is right.
I was taught that if you load your tackle.wind till almost at rod top. with rod at almost upright , then slowly release bearing or brake until tackle starts to drop. and thats it= as soon as tackle hits water- spool will stop
At least that is the theory. lol
When I first used a multi was on Chessel-- won the Dean Cup with 10lb 3oz Turbot and still bragging !!
tighter lines happy

The end caps on a multiplier should never be used for braking as far as beachcasting is concerned. The spool should have minimal play from side to side. If you want to make it more managable for learning purposes, try the following tips: Don't put so much line on, put thick oil in the bearings, if it has centrifugal brakes use the largest blocks and if it is mag controlled use these on maximum. Using the end caps to slow the reel down could damage it. Another thing to do is to use the cheapest line you can get while you are learning, so it isn't so painful in the wallet when you get the inevitable crack-off.

Thanks for the replies, i've gone for the cheaper and less stressfull option and bought a Dawia Emcast s6000 F/S.

Yay, no more nests! No more burnt thumb! Happy fisherman again.

Anybody want a multiplier LOL.
