Hello all.
I moved to Faversham in Kent November last year from Scotland. I've almost got time to think about fishing again.
I have always fly fished for trout and Salmon up North but that would appear to be a bit limited here, hence the interest in Sea fishing.
I have been looking round and there are a few tempting looking areas round the mouth if the creek but I have never seen anyone fishing there (not a good sign).
Does anyone have any knowledge of fishing this area? I need to be as close to home as possible at the moment young family etc. etc.
I'm sure I will find lots of tips on the foorums here.
Thanks
Tom. |

Hi Tom,
Welcome to Kent and to the forum.
I used to live in Faversham, too, and miss the smell from the Shepherd Neame Brewery. Sadly there isn't much to be had along that stretch of the coast - well, not for me anyway! Similarly, I have tried, recently, along the coast between Whitstable & Herne Bay, and find it's pretty well loaded with weed on most tides. The east facing coast of Kent is favourite.
Good luck if you do try the creek - stick to the Shipwrights Arms side and at least you can drown your sorrow! |

Hi Mower and welcome, I not quite sure what spratman said as I have fished Sheppy last week and my mate has fished Reculver and there has not been any sign of weed, and I have not seen any reported on the other forums, there was a load of weed about month or so ago.
You have plenty of scope for fishing the sea is full of whiting at the moment there are also quite a few cod being caught mainly towards Deal and on that way, there still are bass around Reculver and Sheppy a 5 pounder came off Bartons point at the weekend, and cod are being caught in the Thames as far up as Dartford, my advice is go to a local tackle dealers and ask |

Hi Tom
welcome
Faversham creek looks good for a bit of flattie bashing, might even produce some sizable mullet or even bass in spring and summer, you could'nt go wrong by giving it a go lots of little gullys visable on google earth
good luck

Thanks folks.
I had a look on google earth it's very useful for finding likely looking spots. The only hard bit is finding accsess ot some of them. It looks very different from the groand.
I have heard that rag or lug is the bait to use for flatties is it ok bought from shops or is fresh better ( and available).
Might go next week after the cold snap.
