Hello all i've just got into sea fishing and i would like to pick a few brains about the best places to go in and around southend, canvey, tilbury and greys ( as i live in aveley ) i've just got a rod and reel and a few bits together and i'm rearing to go.
so here goes
1. best places to start off from
2. rigs
3. baits

I would suggest the sea wall at canvey, particulalry the mark known as Scarrs Elbow, always seems to be some fish around there. Fish the third and fourth hours of the flood, goes quiet after that until the ebb starts, very strong at this mark so a lead with grip wires (breakaway) is needed to hold bottom.
Bait-wise lugworm works well, but be generous with the size of bait, two or three worms per hook. Rig-wise, two hook patenoster is all that is required, no need to have them 'clipped down' either, as a cast of 50-60 yards will put you into the feeding zone.
