Hi, ive just come over from the dark side (course fishing) and planning on going to marchwood over the weekend and will hope to learn and gain experience there with help from you guys... can you tell me what rig is a good one to use there and what bait works well at this time of year? also to stagger the cast distance ?
your advice would be much appreciated!!

hello jeff big welcome to the forum m8
rigs for marchwood - 2 hook flapper and wishbone and maybe a pennel
bait for marchwood- rag for pout and flatties , mackerel for bass , squid for whiting most other's will be caught on the above baits but taken crab wont hurt .
casting distance -- easy its very very deep water just a gentle flick ( from the dark side im sure you can do one of them )
but danny panter a member of this site has had few rays as well .
best of luck

Hello Old Bean from a fellow Eastleigh angler, can't give you much advice but wish you good luck at Marchwood.
I normally start with a 1 up/1 down flapper with size 2 or 4 hooks one 1 rod at whatever venue I'm fishing at to scratch around and see if anything takes a fancy.
If it's anything like Town Quay across the water, expect a few Pout... is it Magazine Lane you intend fishing?
good luck, Mark |

Hi Mark, thanks for your good luck yeah, Magazine lane is where i'll be going, with my brother, both starting out shore fishing and will be trying not to be too noticed! have got a few rigs already and will get some 1up/1down flappers as well... have 1 rod also and hope to catch something first time out
cheers,
jeff |
