I'm looking at going up to the BC for the first time early next week (weather permiting) and am looking to fish either Aust or Severn Beach for codling.

looking for advice on best times to fish, baits, saftey etc.

All advice welcomed.

The past three week ends on sand point have been pretty spectacular with several good sized thornies, codling and conger being caught by me and my son. All fish returned, codling too small, conger dont know how to cook it and thornies, well who the hell eats thorny!. apart from that fishing is genuinely very good in the great chocolate sea.

I have fished sand point many times and apart from getting a bit covered in mud I have had no real problems, as the water gets higher I move back a bit there are several places to fish from as the tide rises, I may not be accurate with the dates I fish, but I dont always mean straight off the last part of the point. As for mobile phones, I always insist my kids take their phones when they go fishing or even rockin in case of them being late back I can ring them to see where they are and that goes wether or not you are adult or child. I dot give silly advice I'm just not very good at putting the point across.

Hi Bilzere
You would probably be better off fishing Dunster beach than watchet or blue anchor but again it always seems to fish better on the higher tides.
