Just noticed this forum. DOH !!
Been putting all my novice questions on General with limited response. Hopefully now its in the right place now!!?

Still pretty new to the game, but done a lot of coarse fishing.
went fishing at weekend and seemed to get more bites further out (when I wasnt casting 100 yards to the right/ left / 20yards / all over the place)
but the 2 rods I have bought are 12' beachcasters, solid as an old ironing board and as cheap (no feeling to them). Watching other anglers they had a good bend to their rods and a good whipping action. Rather than ask advice from a shop or angling mag where money and sponsorship is king I wondered if anyone has opinions on any good rods out there. I know there is a reviews section on this but would prefer one to one advice.
Price wise I'm not sure but have always found that you get what you pay for.
Also while I'm writing this essay. Fixed spool or multiplier? Whats the differences? Should a novice beach cast with a multiplier??(use a fixed spool at mo)
Thanks in anticipation
Ian

I can't really help you much with beach rods as I 90% float fish but I notice that rabbi2 has a good selection of rods and reels for sale and I am sure if you PM him he would be happy to advise you on a set up that would suit your needs.
Hope this helps mate.
Cheers Steve
