| The other thing you can do is to freeze them on the hooks that are on a snood, transport them in a vacumm flask and use them when needed, they dont fly of the hooks. |

| I tried mussels yesterday, much more of a mess than I had expected, but I did have some success, my first ever fish, a bass - so thanks for the tip |

Has anyone tried salting mussel to toughen em up a bit, a very ancient angler i knew always used to keep a jar of salted slipper limpet for emergencys and they got him a good few bass and plaice from hayling. I believe some northern types (aka rab ) even salt their mackerel to keep it on the hook.

Hi Guys, thanks for the idea, I tried mussels, really awkward and messy, however, when wrapped up with elastic presented a juicy bait. I am proud to announce I then caught my first bass with them, so many thanks for the tip

tried the whole slipper limpet bait needle thing rabbi with great success........well let me ammend that bold statement. i had great success and fun i might add cracking them like"walnuts" and presenting them on my bait needle then hook!! no luck catching on them but blanked all night with all baits!!
enjoyed the whole thing immensly lol |
