Why fish the bristol channel when you HAVE got cod/codling showing from your neck of the woods mate.
But if you want to fish the bristol channel then i would say laydebay in clevedon,or batterpoint in portishead.but only fish them on neap tides(small tides)

ladye bay can be fished any tide springs included, theres also brean down, sand point, cardif fore shore on the welsh side, seven beach and aust but your better off fishing chesil,it's more likely to produce for you and a lot easier/safer than the channel big grin

Havent you forgot something??????
so you can fish aust on spring tides then can you?think about it if you did you would end up on the grass and not catch nothing what so ever.
brean down fish it on small tides only
sand point fish it lo water and fish thre knuckles at the end
severn beach on spring tides you will be fighting with the others to get a space on the wall and we all no what will happen then dont we,everyone will be getting caught up in everyone else's line.

Chesil you can fish neap or spring tides BUT DO NOT FISH IT WHEN THERE IS AN ON SHORE WIND VERY DANGEROUS.
BRISTOL CHANNEL HAS THE 2ND HIGHEST,FASTEST TIDE IN THE WORLD.
TO ANY NEW COMMERS WHO WANT TO FISH THE BRISTOL CHANNEL PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET SOME LOCAL ADVISE BEFORE YOU FISH IT.AS WE HAVE ALREADY LOST AN ANGLER WHO WAS FISHING BIRNBECK PIER THIS YEAR WE DONT WANT TO LOSE ANOTHER DO WE!!!

hi all, dont know if anyone else has heard but they are dredging the channel again for more sand, there has been a lot of talk about it on another site, saying they dont think any cod will show this year and lots of other fish will have moved on,due to the disturbance, lots are saying the channel has got very hit and miss at the moment due to this. crying can anyone else shed any more info on this?

Dizzy, if you ever want to fish the Bristol Channel let me know. I fish up here sometimes as it is just as close.
I have tried Burnham, Stolford and Blue Anchor so far (not had much luck, buts thats just me).
