Hopefully fishing Devil's Point on Friday evening. Any info on anything being caught there recently or what tactics, bottom, spinning etc? Many thanks in advance, Mike Roberts. |

If you fish from the rocks to the left of the platform using either eels or mackerel on floatyou've a good chance of getting a bess with the right tide in the evening and early morning. Using ragworm on float here over the last few weeks i have cought a fair few small pollock ans a few wrasse.
Mackerel on the bottom just out from the rocks, Had produced pollock.
Bottom fishing a few metres out from the lower platform with either lumps/strips of squid or mackerel should catch you something. Most likely dogfish or rockling.
Have tried spinning, plugging and jellyworms at this spot and been unsuccessful. But if you have a spare rod with you you can only improve youre chance by trying i guess. |

It's a shame that spinning has not been productive as that's what i was planning on doing. Was down there last summer one evening and everyone who was fishing, bottom and float had not caught a thing and then i turned up, and caught first cast with a dexter, everyone was gobsmacked! Will give it another go i think but will fish bottom as well just off of the lower platform next to the wall. I had some good codling there before, might be too early for them at the moment, but like you said there should be something down there! Mike Roberts. |

Well, went to devil's this evening and was absolute rubbish! Wrong tides i think, but non the less packed up and went around the coast to Rusty Anchor, I didn't catch but had a lovely evening, the weather was lovely for a change. Got some bait to use up so am going to go back tomorrow and fish from low tide upwards, will let you all know how it goes. Mike Roberts. |

Just along from West Hoe Pier carry on towards Millbay. Follow the path along the top of the rocks and you will see a small ladder and metal pole. Climb down here, but be careful as there are rungs missing, then you have numerous rock points avaliable to you. It is a very nice spot to fish and i think it could be really good when fishing well. It seems to shelf off fairly quickly into some deepish water. Should be good for bass and pollock although i didn't catch last night the tides were slightly wrong, deffo worth another few goess though. Mike Roberts. |

Been back down to Devils this morning on the low tide. Had nothing on the bottom fishing with whole squid but also fished a bubble float with ragworm. Caught several small pollock and wrasse. Also had interest from mullet at slack water but was unable to catch one of the little buggers even after swapping to a smaller hook. Threw out plenty of bread and even the crust from my pasty but they were more interested in the worm. Could see plenty about and some good sized ones mixed in as well. Then moved up to North Parade were there were more pollock and wrasse caught from float on the incoming tide. Mike Roberts. |
