been trying to find some reviews on this forum regarding this reel but cant find much, but maybe i have a sight problem.
Have had an 18month break from fishing but have used multipliers for past 20 years. Started with a Daiwa 6rm then moved to a 7HT, and when mags came along ABU 6500 Mag elite and sports mag. Read an article in a magazine in sea angler about the new 7HT and decided to buy one. Used the reel last night for first time. Casting into a headwind turned the mags up to max and although not worlds greatest caster found this reel flew without a hint of the dreaded bird. the performance of this reel exceeds what i have experienced before and although a high price tag would recommend this to anyone. I used in conjunction with my tnxs 134m and have not regretted the purchase.
Would like to hear from anyone that has used this reel whether good or bad.
Wish i had found this forum months ago as information you guys post is great and would not have had such a long break and got my enthusiasm back sooner. Keep up the good work.
regards

Hi mate, I have heard nowt but good reports about the 7HT Mag but everone has their favourites as you know. I myself favour the larger reels such as ABU 7,000 and 7,500s.
Really it all comes down to preference. Keith |

I'm yet to use the new 7HT Mag Turbo but i'm very impressed with the Red 7HT Turbo which has served me well. I've been told that apart from the Mag Brakes quite a few modifications/upgrades had been made to the Red 7HT. The 7HT Mag Turbo should be a very good reel. The free-floating spool on these reels make them very smooth casters. |

Prefer the earlier red turbo myself (the dial on the blue mag version seemed to rub against my wrist when winding in).
Wish Penn would do a 515 rather 525 (this would doubtlessly be a best seller).
Then again a Shimano speedmaster with a mag would take some beating. |

yes it does bang against your wrist but can live with that just for the smooth way the line goes out |

Ive - I honestly haven't picked out a serious birdie since buying my 7HT Turbo over two years ago. To be honest I know a couple of anglers who were not impressed with the 7HT Turbo's retrieval capabilities. One of these damaged the gears after ragging in a double header of Huss in a match, because the side plate worked loose (Obviously the screws weren't properly tightened). |

To be honest AH i'm not the worlds best caster but found had more confidence with this reel than my 6500's. Have not tried the Turbo so can't comment but its good to hear an opinion on another reel someone is happy with.

Just recently brought a 7ht mag. Amazing Reel puts my old 6500 in to touch. It really had more power and control! 10 out of 10!! |
