Would it be better to have a swivel at the end of a leader which will be easier to retrieve back through the eyes. I was always under the impression that the leader should have a clip and the rig a swivel but reading around seems that it might be sensible to reverse this trend which also helps should you want to swop the rig around. I am new to this and still looking for the best tips around.

HI " TANCHET"
Checkout this site mate its by niel mackellow who i believe to be one of our national fishing leaders, Ive seen this man in action at the N E C birmingham fishing convention.

AN aspiring angler that knows a great deal more than is given credit for.
Im sure if you read threw his site you wont be dissapointed.

Clip or swivel is up to you.... So if your using a 60lb shockleder you should make the rig body from 60lb mono. Dont forget youll need a 80lb test swivel for joining the RIG body to the leader.
Itll be safer this way for yourself and others big grin

Plus dont just tie the weight on the end of the rig or trace body,,, that also needs to be attatched to an oval link or something similar....

GOOLUCK

as i found to my cost , if you leave a swivel or link attached to your leader all the time and just wind it through the rings to the reel at the end of a session ( damn good idea if your rod rings are big enough, and makes it much easier to thead the line at the start of a session)
but be careful when winding through that the link doesn't smash or chip any ceramic ring liners  it gets a bit costly on line and new rings.

geejayy.

"Geejay" that cod this year could be on the cards for alot of us as this year is predicted to be a very very cold one.
There are plenty turning up at dover,, good ones too.
I recently walked a fishing comp local to my area and they were landing good bags of fish right up the beach.
Nice sized channel whiting codling over 2lb and still late bass up to 45cm.

It still being very early so come late november, early january things would have improved even more and should be in full swing.

Keep this COLD ONE coming i say,,, keep it coming

big grin Hi all if you want to protect your rod tip rings simply add a bead to your line thats bigger than the diameter of your rod ring then the swivel or whatever your using cant be reeled thru causing damage. big grin big grin big grin

Thanks for the link Euge big grin
I was out fishing last week and got snagged, the line broke.
I am so bad at knots, I could not remember how to do it.
I have spent the last 30 mins practising the knot on the link you provided.
