hi all.
come on we must have all done it. what has been the your biggest fishing fib. was it the size of the fish. how many you cought. so on. i will start.
After about two weeks of talking tactics where we were going and all that stuff we do . my mate phones up to say he can not make it.about hour and a half before were going to meet. [ later found out he had been out on the jolly.] so when he phoned a few days later i said he had missed the best nights fishing nothing huge but good solid fishing. he was gutted . i blanked . just thought if he did not fancy it or had other plans should have said. so come on whats yours. |

It's amazing how angling attracts so many liars. I've never felt the need to tell a porky about my fishing, if I blank then so be it. The thing is, to be a liar you have to have a fantastic memory, otherwise you will be caught out. One thing for all the Bullsh**ers out there to remember is that every body you know is laughing about you behind your back, because they know your're a liar

The only way to do it is admit defeat.....I catch and release and rely on my dear mrs believing me. The real annoyance comes when she decides she had enough and heads off....10 mins later I`m into a seriously big fish....they seem to know when the camera is away... So I depend on being believed, I`d never kill a fish just to say .."look at the size of that" and then be stuck with a big smelly fish in my van/car. Besides I get a laugh out of people when after a planned mission with all the gear and great expectations (maybe throw in a long journey too) at a silly hour in pouring rain, to come back and say all I caught was 2inch tiddler. |

I find that the truth gets loads of tea and sympathy. I've caught one, lost two and flipped one out of the water and off the hook in the last 9 months (gave the missus a good laugh). The one I caught is photographically recorded as it looks like being the only one I'll ever get!
The lie is that I enjoy just communing with nature. I want a fish. A big one. One so big in fact that a fillet won't fit in the pan. Bovvered? Yes I am but I must not show my frustration as this would show up the lie that I enjoy standing in the cold and wet for no bloody good reason other than blind faith that there are some fish in Southend! |
