The Abu 7000 is a great reel for casting. But first before you cast set it up properly.
If you want to know how just ask. Cheers keith |

On the lefthand side there is a knurld nut, slacken this off about 1 full turn.
The on the righthand side ther is another knurled nut under the clutch star drag, tighten this up until you cannot move the spool from side to side with your hand, dont overtighten it just enough to stop the spool moving from side to side.
fasten you weight to your line and press the feel spool button and let theweight drop to the ground. If there is any overun then tighten the lefthand knurld nut until you achieve this.
Once you have done this the reel is set up.
It may sound complicated but it aint. keith |

| REfill with new line of about 20 to 25lb to within 1/8inch below the lip of the spool then add you shockleader 6 to 8 turns of this plus the lenght of your rod. Hope this helps. keith |

you have been very helpful think I will leave old line and go do some practise casting in a field just in case I mess it up. then put on the new line with shock leader.

Andy mate
please practice with a shockleader! put a shockleader on before you practice,it`ll be ok to take off when you put new line on,then re-tie
Think you`re on a beach...............with greenhouses
I hope you get what i mean,cheers Darren |

hi me again with another Q.
I need to learn to cast with a multiplier now. i think i understand the basics but i just wondered if you need stop the reel turning fully before the lead hits the water, if so how should this be done. should the reel be gradually slowed with your thumb over the last few meters or so or just stopped dead, |

Andy, stop it dead when it hits the water, then use you thumb to control the spool as you release line to get the depth
hope this makes sense!
cheers Darren |

If you try slowing it down you'll end up with the mother of all tangles. As Darren said as soon as the weight hits the water stop it dead and not before. keith |

If you do run into problems mate, heavey dut brake blocks can be fitted.
If the need arises I can explain how its done as its a job you can do quite easily yourself. keith |
