Try putting a small bit of polystyreen on the snood to lift you hook from the sea bed. I know it sounds daft but it works. Best of luck keith |

Could always try a monster crab pop up boilie
If it works all well and good,if not the monster in it would scare the spiders away!!!

you will probably find that the spiders have all but finished their moult for this year, and unless they show signs of being in the peeling stage keeping them in sea water will more than likely get you a bucket load of dead crabs, air pump or not
on a serious note, spider crabs are subject to MINIMUM LANDING SIZE LAWS,which means you can only take a couple provided they are in size unless you have a licence,if caught with more the fines are astronomical.
BEWARE....any info on such can be got from your local sfc board |

Okay here goes the minimum landing size for a spider crab in the UK according to the national fishories directive (1967) revised in (2000)
is 130mm. shown below:
I hope this helps Si and thanks for pointing it out weebster.

peeling or not peeling it does not matter for smoothounds. thats why hardbacks are a great bait also. any crab at any stage will catch smutts. |

that may work for little hardback shore crab....but i'd liked to see some one catch a hound on a 5inch spider hard back,it's when they are in the peeling stage they will become targets for hounds as the adults in hardback are just a bit too much for any fish i would think |
