--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok my first post so here goes. We are off to St Davids area for a couple of weeks on Saturday so I was thinking of taking a small spinning rod and a few plugs etc. I understand the Welsh coast in this area is pretty good for rock and shore fishing so can anyone recommend any good but safe places to go as I'd like the whole family to come along for a couple of hours if possible (I'll also have a quiet day to myself I think walking the coast line with a small bag on my back so can go for a bit more remote then!!!).
I'm fairly new to spinning/plugging from the rocks so is it a case of just tying on a plug and going for it, and is it best as the tide comes in and before it turns? I was hoping that I may at least pick up a couple of Mackerel for the BBQ and wouldn't it be so nice to get a bass as I've never caught one before.
If anyone knows the area and fancies a few hours one day drop me a PM as it is always good to have a bit of local knowledge although I really won't have much kit with me so don't expect me to look all professional!!!!
Also if anyone knows of any boat trips out let me know as I'm all up for a day at sea in order to catch my tea!!!!
Thanks for any help/advice anyone can give |

Hi mate and welcome
If i were you read the wales forum,go back a few weeks.
If you are familiar with the area try newgale for bass, blue lagoon(porth gain) for mackies, pollock and wrasse, fishguard breakwater(not ferry one) for a mixture inc doggies or milford haven for a boat trip. The trips from st davids are aimed at tourists and are expensive! Don`t know if any charter boats are going from milford though due to the building of the new gas terminal, last year they were all opting to be safety vessels within the harbour/estuary.....................easy money?
hope this helps, cheers happy hols Darren |
