Fished it a few times last week and like most others struggled. Had a few mackerel and a couple of small pollack but the fish were very few and far between. Most noticeably was the distinct lack of garfish. I saw two caught a;ll week and had 2 more follow me up on the retrieve. Last year at this time they were abundant and so prolific it made it difficult to get through to the mackerel. |

if your seeing them follow ur line up u are probly using 2 larger hook they only have small beeks so on spinners they can be caught if the hook sive is right i had 7 gar fish yday at shanklin buy the car park but only caught makral at sandown pier today |

No hook was ok size 4 with little belly strip of mackerel or half a sandeel, plenty small enough for gars, they just did not seem to be about and those couple that followed me up had no intention of taking or I would have caught them no doubt. I have caught hundreds of gars from Sandown over the years but this time they were very noticeably in short supply. |
