hi im just interested i used to go casting about 11 years ago at weymouth, well im travelling around the world at the moment im in australia and ive got the casting bug back after having a few casts with the australian champ scott selby, he uses the flat and wide pendulum cast bit like peter thain just wondered at the comps is this the cast that everyone is using or is the high pendulum still common |

hi there zzippy, both styles that you mention are used at comps all over. both jason willicombe and garry dickerson both use high styles and you have mike birks and gary blanchard use the lower style. all of these casters have managed to hit huge distances. jason has hit 311 yds with the 150 grm lead. and mike birks has also been over the 300 yd line. i think that both messers dickerson and blanchard are up in the 290's.
at the end of the day it is all down to the style that suits the caster, one style may work for one individual but not for another. find a style that works for you and work at trying to perfect it.
i my self cast at weymouth. hoping to get back into it this month after a 3 month lay up due to recovering from an operation. |
