Hi im just wondering has anybody had any success fishing with rubber worms?
Also how to you fish them, do you just use them like a spinner or is there a different technique?
Another question if i am fishing for flatties from the sure (Fresh East) at what sort of range am i looking to cast .
Thank RC |

i live down this way, but am back in swansea at the weekend, back in uni. Which caravan site do you use a good friend of mine owns the farm one at the top of the hill?
Have you had much luck fishing from the shore there? What species do you target? |

Stay in the caravan club site at the bottom of the hill. - 500yds walk to fish on the beach.
As for targeting species you're having a laugh mate! I'm on a steep learning curve and glad to get even a bite right now.
Was reasonably successfull at coarse match fishing for over twenty five years, then got bored so tried trout fishing - reasonably easy as they are tame fish in reality
This sea fishing though is something else - never had so many blanks in my life! That sea is a big place !!!!

Well from reading results from competitions at Fresh East in the past, you are best off targeting flatties and dog fish and i expect the odd bass passes through. I know if you take a short journey to stackpole quay that the rocks around that area are productive for Pollack, makerel and doggies as well as wrasse and i expect again that you could catch a few bass.
But my top tip for bass in the are would be frains lake, you have to get permission to fish there but a few of my friends have done so and had shed loads of bass. |

Back today from Freshwater East. Three long sessions and not even one bite.
Fished up till full tide on all three days.
Only activity seen all weekend were dogfish taken by some lads from Brum in an evening session.
Cant be any fish there in the day at present.
Good news though in that mackerel are being caught early at Stackpole and smoothhounds have turned up a month early off Aberthaw. |

it does produce a few bass during the summer months, i think ususally towards the rocks on the left handside of the beach?
As for bait in Swansea is there anywhere in town to go? If not where is the best place to go near to Brynmill? |

getting back to yur original question... about rubbers worms etc... our local tackle shop man said to us as we asked about that
"Sue there are some products out there to reel in the punter!!! not the fish! "
so i shall be taking his advise and not purchasing them lol

I use jelly worms and "Wildeye" sandeels all the time for pollack. I use a 3ft trace with a 2oz barrel lead and spin between the kelp and rocks, but quite often a thin strip of squid or mackerel bound on to the hook with elastic outfishes its rubber imitations |
