Hallo all,
That certainly looks like it would have saved me a lot of pain when I was fishing a 3 day comp last year my finger was red raw from trying to cast distance with the fixed spool reel and at the start of day three I was just wishing for it all to end,
I see one of you lads had a crack off during a cast and it got me thinking that maybe applying to much pressure on the trigger would pinch the line and weaken it at this point,
I have never used one of these and wouldn’t have a clue on how its used but would like to know before I get one if any of you checked the line for dents around the area that would be held by the device,
Cheers, |

The Breakaway Cannon has no detremental effect on the line than your finger. I have checked the line and no kinks have appeared. If you think about it only the shock leader comes into contact with the cannon and you replace this every so often, so even if it did affect the shock leasder it would be of little consequence. I am such a fan of this item that it is whipped onto my rod as a permenent fixture and I have used it for years. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for the info rabbi2 / doublebass,
and yes it has helped me to decide on getting one of these i will have a look around my local tackle shops but i would be Very surprised to find that any of the 3 shops here in limerick stock it,
so I may have to wait a few weeks for my mate to pick one up before he returns from Wale’s,
People here are more into the salmon and troth and there’s only a few of us lost soul’s that wonder around the coast at all hour’s of the day and night being attacked by sand flea's,
That reminds me I must give my rod rest a good clean, I went to put my rod butt in the holder of the tripod last night and I seen a little army of the fleas working there way up the leg of it,
Cheers lads for the welcome, |
