Does anyone know any good places to fish on the Cleddau river from the shore, ive had bass from a boat, but dont really know where to start from the shore.
Also apart from bass what species am i likely to catch.

hi there i fish the cleddau every other day have done since i was very young
i find if you would like to fish in neyland in paticular in my opinion the best place to fish is near brunel quay
if yo go to the car park and look towards the sea on your right near the new houses is a slip going down to the beach once on the beach turn right and walk across to the wall of the old bath house grounds (again redeveloped)there is a concrete platform at the top of the beach a cast roughly towards hobbs point TIP dont use gripleads i have lost loads
i have used rag and lug here and never left without catching something fish range catching in the last month bass cod dog fish whiting happy fishing [/img] |

in llanstadwell near neyland there is a good fishing spot
off the "big rock" now there is a tough and very energitic hike to this spot and fishes better in the dark (so bring a good torchand plenty of spare batteries if you can fish the last 2 hours of tide in and then 2 hours out as genral rule i have found this to be the best time to fish with a better catch rate
head towards the ferry house inn as you are looking @ the door there are steps to the beach if you are confident on rocks you can then turn right and walk across the rocks @ low-half tide but watch you dont slip
the rock you are looking for has a flat platform at the bottom and a rather small path coming off the top and onto a footpath known locally as "the weir" after a quick hike through braken paths up rather a steep hill you then turn right on to the path and follow it past a sheep feild (gates) and turn right and walk down hill the grass turns to tarmac after about 100Yds follow this to the bottom of the hill and you will find that you are by the ferry house inn i have cought many differing species there including cod bass dogfish whiting pouting and even the dreaded eel in the summer you can catch mackrell and bull huss and thornbacks from here this is a good alrounder for many different speices of fish best bait i have found is lug with a mackrell flapper you can use a grip lead here but you will ocasionaly get snagged cast any direction that suits you hope you catch good fish |
