Well I'm off to the Mumbles next week, if I can find a break in the weather, and I'll get a report off the locals as to how that part of the Gower is currently fishing.

Brighton- as of last week we were struggling to take much of consequence of the inshore (-6 mile wrecks, ffshore a bit better, but not much ), but on the off channce we decided to have a 'quick stab' at Brighton pier on the way home..result..11 Black Bream over 1.5 lbs on mackerel strip.

If you can cast a bit then maybe worth a stab.

Alternatively a small boat attack is in order, we will return in anger, on reflection there must be Bass there too.

Help, you have nearly every coast catered for except the nortwest. We do have fish in these waters and we have fisherpersons who try to catch um. Just wondering if we have the measles or mrsa lol. Please see if you can rectify this.

I decided to have a day off the sheep big grin and have a go at the fish instead.

Went out Wednesday on a day where a months rain in a day was predicted - and boy did we get soaked.

The boat is the Cast-Away out of Portishead skippered by Paul Wells (http://www.deepsea.co.uk/boats/castaway/moreinfo/angling_spaces.htm) - 5 of us went out for the day and for 4 of us it was our first experience of boat fishing - what a cracking day.

All bar 1 of us caught something - we went out for a single tide leaving Portishead at 9am and back by 3pm.

My Dad did the best with 4 - 2 congers (1 13lb and the other around 7lb) and couple of Dog fish (3-4 lb each) - with a cracking take by something fairly large (the skipper reckoned a good Smoothhound) which just snapped of his line on the take and near pulled in the rod with it.

My brother-in-law took 3 - 1 Thorn Back of around 5-6lb and couple of doggies.

I got 3 - 2 Congers (1 20lb'er and the other around 5-6 lb) and a small doggy

One of the other guys got a nice Doggy and the skipper got a nice Thornie as well.

Despite the rain a great day out - we'll all definately be back for some more.
