just an idea and i dont know if it would work! but have you ever used a slider float with either a feeder cage or lead at the bottom? you could use a float with a lead link and lead attached with a stop knot on your main line. ie hook and bait then 4 ft of line then a paternoster link for the weight, then your maine line then float, then stop knot set to the depth you are fishing hopefully the weight will dig in the tide will put a bow in the line and the float will hit the stop knot a and cock itself.
just an idea but it may work.
if you try it, i hope it works!! and let me know if it does
cheers

Thanks for that. Will give it a go on next trip. May be a while before i can get out as have roken my toe and can hardly walk on solid ground never mind sand and pebbles!! But we've all got to make sacrifices to land the bigguns so stuff the pain!!
I'll let you know how it goes

Tried the float Saturday night. bought a heavier one,put a light in it tied it on cast a few times short and it slowly came back in, thought i'd try it a bit further out, so gave a bit of a whack. Went for miles, unfortunately I had only used light line for it and had snapped off!
Imagine how gutted i was when I was watching it bob along and then saw it dive under the surface!!
Never mind caught a small bass close in on the bottom, and if the little ones are there the bigguns will follow....won't they? :? |
