Disappointed that more people are not fishing Southend beaches. LLoads of people trying the Peir but our 6 miles or so of beaches are being largely unfished. I have only been fishing for 2 years and very rarely blank ( most fish quite small though!!). Every thing from Dab and Plaice, Whiting, Bass, Garfish, Cod (not caught one myself but i'm told they're out there ssomewhere!) and of course Eels.
If you haven't tried it, give it a go. Day or night when ever the tide is there, something different every time.
Maybe see you down there

If your getting there that early you won't find alot of water at the beach but by about 12 there will be a fair amount.
You could try the peir but i haven't been on since the fie and i do't know how far up you can get. if you can get to the fourth shelter along there is sand bank about 50 yrds to your left you may have some luck there but i'm not much of a peir user.
My favourite marks at the moment are the gas works jetty - either side of it with an assortment of fish feeding right up against it, but plenty of snags. My other fav. is behind Adventure Island at the foot of the pier. I have only fished there twice (at night) but had a few small flatties. I go Westcliff side and have seen afew other guys during the day when going past.
Other than that try any where east of the pier I have had more luck that side than coming inland to the west.
Hope this helps, I am still learning myself but get loads of pleasure even from the small ones and very rarely blank, although most fish go back to grow a bit!! |

I hope by now you have caught your fill of whatever you were going for.
I had no chance this weekend but will be out next saturday night. Hope youve left some in the water for me.

Good news then!! If the crabs are there the fish will come in to find them.
Which part of the front did you go to?
Saturday night is in question now as I have broken my toe. Hoping (or hopping!) it will be OK by then but will let you know by end of week

Fishing Report.
Saturday night. popped out for a quick fish on the tide, out for about 1.5 hrs. Loads of crabs nicking my bait, torrential rain, huge winds and lost a float (cast it too hard and snapped line, watched it bob along for a bit and then saw it dive under th surface never to be seen again!!) then for all my hard work a bass! it was 6 or maybe 7......inches!, but perfectly formed and at least I didn't blank. If the small ones are there, the big ones are near them.
