just a quick one for anyone in the know............ How do i know when casting if i am compressing my rod or just bending it. Its quite a stiff rod, an abu suveran xp. I have been told by friends who i fish with that i am bending it a fair bit, but they asked me if i could feel it compressing
Like i sadi i dont have a clue!! all i know is that the rod feels stiffer towards the end of the cast?????? |

It's the same thing mate - if the rod is bent backward (compressed) just before you deliver the final punch, then when you stop the rod at around 45 degrees to the vertical in front of you, the tip will flick forward at speed and send the sinker flying high in the air to get you the distance you want. Just remember that its the height which gives you distance and the best way to achieve this is to look up into the sky as you cast rather than at the horizon. |

I believe that you are in fact compressing the rod. If you were using a cheap 20 quid job rod then i would say that it was just folding up. just try to hit it harder! |
