| Please post your Tactics / Tips on how to catch Flounder in your local area here. Please remember in this part of the forum to click the reply button to post and Not the "New Post" button Also one main point to remember is that these new forums are intended to help totally new sea anglers to the sport so please post in great detail type of rods/reels used, explain about traces/rigs used, depth to fish and so on or anything else I have missed that you feel will help the novice sea angler. |

Well might as well start this section off.
For most of my flounder fishing on the esturies i use a Light estuary rod casting up to 3 oz and multi reel. You dont need heavy lines so i use 12lb mainline without a shot leader. Normal round leads are the best ones to use as it alows you to twitch the bait while its in the water enticing a bite. Normally only casting 20 - 40 yrds out as they come in pretty close. I use a 2 hook flapper with size 2 or 4 hooks depending on the bait im using. The two main baits i use is black lug and maddies. I would place around 20 or so maddies on a size 2 hook.
Hope this helps someone out.
Cheers
