Has anyone fished from the rocks at Cyprus (or any other similar place). I'm going in a couple of weeks and was thinking of taking just a light spinning rod and using normal silver spinners and just bottom fishing with light weights and small hooks. Someone told me that chicken is a good bait but I was thinking of just buying some small silver fish from the fishmongers (apparently I am staying in a small fishing village) and cutting into strips. Any advice welcome.
Cheers

Cheers Medlar
I just need to try and get myself a cheap spinning rod. With prague next weekend and the cyprus the weekend after I am pennyless - any suggestions as I have never bought a spinner before. Other than this Saturday, I might not be out again for a few weeks but will try my best to get out a week on Friday before I go away. Will let you when I know. Speak to you later mate. |

Just curious, I'm off to Cyprus in September and I'm also interested in checking out the fishing over there.
How did you get on when you went mate ?
I was thinking of getting a light spinning set up but was hoping to get some advice first. |

Hi Mackembirch
I didn't have much luck actually in Cyprus as I went in off season. No boats would take me out because of that and the fact that it was too windy. I did try float fishing for mullett with bread and although I could see a few pecking at the bait, none took it. It is supposed to be ok fishing off the little jetties using thise same method or buying small fish for bait from one of the fish shops. I also tried fishing in germasoia reservoir. One of the most beautiful places I have ever fished but didn't get a bite. The reservoirs/dams are supposed to be packed with fresh water fish but I am a total novice at this so if you have some experience you may have better luck. September is a much better time to fish as this is in the season. I only really tried llimassol but not sure if this is where you are going. You can buy really cheap fishing gear over there as I saw in a shop in limassol - much cheaper than over here. Best advice is to go into a fish shop or fishing tackle shop or ask the locals. People seem only too willing to help over there. If you are going to llimassol I will try and give you a little more info but if somewhere else can't help you much more. |

Hello guys!
New member here, just joined the forum. Currently in the UK, but born and raised on the Island of Cyprus.
Ok, so any tips for how to fish/where on the island i am your man. Just email me or pm and I will do my best to provide you with any info.
Furthermore, if when you do visit Cyprus and I am also there we could arrange for a day's fishing together.
Don't get too excited though! I do not have a boat. It's just rod&Reel or pole fishing and only sea fishing.
Hello to everybody once more and very glad to be a member of this forum! |
