S/H shops around the coasts often have stuff - got myself an excellent boat rod for a tenner a few years back because the shop owner did not really know what it was! |

Hunt around online at places like UK tackle. There's very often a good deal going (I know someone that got a Fladen rod and reel for a tenner which got him going). Tackle shops may do you a deal too. My first rod and reel cost £35 and, curiously enough, that rod still catches more than the others that I now have put together! |

Ho, Ho, Ho!
Decided to join the party eh?
I am still in possession of that rod and it is mere jealousy on your part sir, that causes you to say these things. If you were not so afflicted I would be forced to take you in hand and teach you a lesson in good manners! Good day to you sir!
Yours
Mr C Whiting-Andcatchit.

Hi rcjelley89
I know money is tight when you are a student been there done that but sacrifice some of your beer tokens and you will be able to get something to fish with. Have a look at the following link, they have numerous outfits to get you started. I am sure every tackle shop will have similar deals so it is worth looking to see what you ca get. Have a look on here:

Car boot sales could be another good option. My 1st beachcaster combo cost me £18, yes £18 brand new for rod and reel. It was a shakespeare contender set up.
cheers
