Same as a F/S except you turn the rod upside down, rings on the top and have the winding handle on the right hand side, unless you are a left hander, in which case you need to buy a left handed multi. Also multis go better with m/fs rods or m rods only. They have more rings to stop the line rubbing on the blank. |

Word of caution Sacha-make sure that your rod has enough rings for a multiplier. If your reel is for fixed spool, it'll probably have 4 or 5 rings. If its rigged for a multiplier, it will have 8 or more and quite close together. You might get away with it but a fs rod with a multiplier puts a different strain on the rod and you might find things starting to give! |

It doesn't sound as if it's rung for a multiplier. I have used a multiplier on a fs rod before but when you reel in and theres a bend on the rod you can see how the line flattens out between rings. The extra rings reduce this effect and the strain on line and rod. Whether it would do any damage to your Zebco is not something I'm qualified to answer. You could whip a couple of extra rings on towards the tip which would help. |

Best bet is to take your rod to your tackle shop and get them to show you how as it's not that easy to explain without pictures! There are some websites that do have rod building tips etc. You'll need the rings, whipping thread (easiest to use is a grade D or E), varnish. For varnish, I'm using flexcoat hibuild. Tried it for the first time today and it's very good. A rod turner would be handy.
To be fair, it might be better for the time being to get your tackle shop to do it for you unless you're planning to do whole rods as the cost would be higher to diy as you'll only be doing a couple of rings. |

if your rod don't come with coasters you can order them from breakaway fishing tackle |

You could try the new Grip Lok reel seats from Abu. They come in different sizes.
I have replaced all my coasters with Grip Loks & they are so much more user friendly & can still be moved up & down the shrink tube like the coasters.
Hope this helps?

I take back my advice on the Abu Grip loks. I had one break on me at the weekend & it nearly dumped my 7HT on the floor...Luckily I caught it
Gone back to using coasters, as I have lost confidence with the Grip Loks now. Coasters have proved themselves well & I now regret ever taking them off in the first place. They are unbreakable & hold the reel in place securely. |
