Please don't get me started on Health & Safety! It is my firm opinion that if a member of the public is daft enough to want to wade through the half-mile plus of mud that is Southend beach at low tide he/she is asking to sink without trace in "quick mud" whether it be caused by bait diggers or not!
I recently upset the Chief Safety Elf at work by having the following scrolling across my computer screen:
"Health & Safety - keeping idiots in the human gene pool!"

so does that mean if your were to dig bait then sell it out of your garage to a large amount of customers instead of selling it in a shop that this is illegal? |

How did this conversation get round to selling bait from a garage?? Is it the Health and safety aspect of this thread that brought that question up? |

just wondered wether it would be illegal because its not for your own use and your selling it to others and making a profit just from selling bait in ya garage i just thought it may just be a lil bit illegal |

It probably isn't illegal to sell bait from your garage, but you would have to apply to your local council for planning permission and of course you would need public liabilty insurance. Also you would have to declare it all to HM Revenue and Customs.
Still fancy it? |

it aint me its someone else who does it
so if someone "shopped them as it were" they could go to jail
if they was selling bait from there garage and didnt declare it could there benefits get reduced if they found out they was making money on the side |

You'll always make enemies in business. If they've got any sense they would keep a note of all transactions, so if the Revenue come calling they can prove how much tax they owe, rather than being told what they are going to have to cough up.
As for going to jail, that's most unlikely unless someone fiddles really serious money.
You'd be surprised these days how quickly the Revenue find out who's on the fiddle. There's alot of people out there who think no one knows what they are up to, but it's only a matter of time.
My accountant told me the whole idea of self assesment was to free up more HMRC guys to carry out more investigations. |

yh its only people who sell bait themselves who dont like it i reckon. i don't know wether they keep a tab on transactions. its only bait money anyway so it aint like hundreds only like £5-10 a person aint it. yeah i thought that it would be legal but was never sure because no one had never explained it lol |
