did the guy you know get a photo of the 27lb bass? If so get it sent off to the magazines because although it wont count its shattered the shore and boat record. Personally I suspect a fishy smell or a bovine waste product one.

Blimey if all I could catch were 10lb eels than I'd want for nothing more, with the exception of a 27lb Bass of course!!

yh try fishing morrisons pier in Erith the peir is opposite morrisons super market. The pier goes out about 150 yards. its best fished in the dark, fish it low tide up to high, at low tide fish the side facing out into the middle but when the tide reaches the third hour the tide is really strong and you wont be able to hold the bottom, so fish the other side facing back towards shore but when fishing the side facing the shore only do a short cast of 15 to 20 yards.

yh 2 years ago i was fish dungeness in december at the boils and i got a 10lb bass close in about 30 to 40 yards i caught it on a whole calamari squid. But the boils have apparently been turned off so i dnt think the big bass are in in the winter anymore. but its worth trying for a big bass in between october and november but you usally got schoolies all year round. The bass only come close in at night.
