How did you get on on Sat. night? Did it make any difference that it was high tide a 17something? I'm still trying to get to grips with whether tide affects Chesil or whether the depth of water is such that tide doesn't matter so much. |

Yea, it was on whole squid on a pennel rig, and it was sort of busy.

I tend to go to Abbotsbury, but it can get really busy so I'm thinking of trying some other spots. I don't go a huge amount, I'm mainly a coarse/fly fisherman, but I want to improve my beachcasting. |

there seems to be alot of whiting the whole way along chesil at the moment, and most of them are been caught about 40-60 yards out, this is because there is a hole running along at this distance that seems to hold alot of fish when the tide is really pushing, little strips of squid on small hooks is dynamite, cod seem to have pushed abit further out....experienced casters out there damn dad haha |

That's very interesting news. Whiting are v. tasty! I think I'll give it another go this weekend, if the weather is OK. I tend to use size 1 hooks. Do I need to go smaller still? |

i think i was using 2 o hooks, but to try and deter pouting, you could use 1 o i dont see a problem with that, i make my own rigs and always use a two snood set up........ top snood with a single 2 o hook and bottom hook pennal with two 2 o's.....you never know if a cod is lingering around.... just get that squid on and i guarentee whiting...JUST FISH AFTER HIGH TIDE TOO |

should have looked b4 i replied, its similar to the bomber rig which is in the rig section, i just dont have the top line longer then the bottom and dont use clips, mostly because i dont need to cast more then 50 yards |
