Rod question
What is the difference between a beach caster and a surf caster? Apart from size when dismantled is there a difference between a 3 piece rod and a 2 piece rod?

Bait question
Snce i live in the Guildford area, what alternative is there to live bait that is easy obtainable. Apart from mackerel and Herring from the local Sainsburys? I was thinking that if i go again at night or evening then there will not be any local bait shops open.

Try Baits Direct. they do a range of frozen vac packed baits and deliver to your door. Try squid, crab (when they have it), blueys, welsh black lug etc. They are very reasonably priced too.

cannot answer Q1, but being an inlander myself (Northampton)

you can get bait via http://www.bandtc.co.uk/, but watch the carraige costs

Get frozen Maccy (Ammo bait or similar) the stuff in the supermarkets sometimes is a bit naff.

Also try an obtain other frozen baits like sandeel, limpet etc and claim a drawer in the freezer winking

There are members on here, that dig bait, maybe you can come to an arrangement for them to dig some for you and post it?

Local Tackle Shop on Hayling stays open 'til 7 pm and has a good selection of bait including local dug rag. As far as rods are concerned, in theory a three piece rod is not as strong as a two piece but I have not found it so. In fact, I am about to buy another three piece 13 ft rod because they are so much easier to transport. Also my mate uses three piece Ron Thompson Carbosticks; he is 18 stone and 6-2 and really wacks these rods at times but they seem to stand up to his punishment.
