Coatham Hole - Off the beach into the baqck of the scaurs - straight down from the Stray Cafe. Wouldn't recommend going on any of the scaurs if you haven't been before. Can be very dangerous on a heavy tide. Need to have l;ocal knowledge. I built up a lot of knowledge over a few years by fishing into the backs of the scaurs on neap and spring tides and watching the rocks and walking them in daylight.
Plenty of places to fish most tides if you know where. Coatham Hole can be very productive but I always prefer the scaurs, just a personal preference but I had plenty of fish off them.
The groynes to Zetland roundabout, Jenny Leigh’s Scar, East Scar and the beach along to Ayton Stones are decent low water fishing venues especially when there is a big sea running. Again underwater reefs protect the inner scars from the roughest of the weather . When the flood tide gets away you need to move to the lagoon between Ayton Stones and Coatham Pipe. The low water Coatham Hole is protected by West Scar and as such is worth trying during rough weather.
This link should give you plenty of info about Redcar and surrounding areas.

had a toddle along the beach with the lass on sunday, first time id been in years!
It looks very much a shallow angled beach with at most 2 metres of water going to cover it on a big tide!
There was plenty of rock features furthur south once you get away from the town and if you continue right along you get to the cliffs which is supposidly a very good cod/codling mark.
as i havent fished it i cant really say whats what but the beach im guessing would be bass and flattie fishing with the more rocky marks being codling into slightly deeper water. |
