Is it best to dispatch fish? and in the case of flats how? the reason I ask is last year I was beach casting from an area that I usually have all to myself. This place never fails to deliver anyway on this day I had caught a few flats and placed them under a light bag ready for the pan later as you do. It so happened a few folk passed by with there kids and saw one of the fish give a kick, no real problem at this point as they were all very intrested in what I was doing. They went on there way but a little later this chap with them came back and had a bit of a go at me about letting the fish die etc and not putting them back, this did not bother me water of a ducks back, but to administer the last rights is also going to be a visual sight, any ideas chaps

Personally I prefer to despatch fish I intend keeping, but do agree that flatfish can be difficult to kill without what to others might look like barbarous methods. I look forward to hearing what others say on this...

As for the chap's coming back and having a go, well I'm sure we've all had that at one time or another - that's his problem - did you have a go at him about the way he talked? the way he walked? hmmmm.

Tight lines
Tim
