I've been looking through the forum and most cod seem to be called "good" when they are above 4lb. I only ask as I had a charter about 15 years ago from Dover (I think, it was a long time ago) and had 1 fish of 10lb and one of 14lb. But as it was a one off trip and I hadn't been before I didn't think anything of it!
And what's a codling? Is it a small cod or a cross between a cod and a ling? |

A good Cod is anything sizable these days with the way the commercial overfishing is going!
...and a Codling is an immature Cod.....general opinion seems to be it's a Codling upto 6lb and anything over is a Cod. I must be getting old as the limit was generally considered to be 8lb when I started this game...but never mind...I'd be pleased with a 6 or an 8 lber if one came my way off the beach. |
