hi all been over 30 years since i last went sea fishing, gonna get rid of my river kit and get back to the sea.
advice please:- which intermediate type rod will be suitable for beachcasting/pier fishing and also a mulituiplier to go with it ?
budget about £100 |

id get the okuma magnetix 30 cs it's built like a tank and has a lot of grunt and is perfect for a begginer on usuing multipliers(me)  |

Depends on how much you want to spend. I have both cheapies (carbon composites) and full carbon. The latter can cost you well over £100 but doesn't make much difference to the catch. There is also the ongoing debate about casting. If you learn a decent casting style a 12 or 13 ft job will still get you out there but many prefer the very long rods which get you out there with an overhead thump cast but IMO are heavy and awkward to use. I suppose my best rod is a 12ft Shakespeare Salt Beach because it is light and easy to use and is not that dear - can be got for around £50 if you hunt around. On the other hand I also have a Cormoran Cheapie 13 ft which is regularly used and cost me just £17.50 on ebay. Not as nice as the Shakespeare though. |
