hi salty. get a good ruck sack to carry all your gear in, tri pod rod rest, a beach buddy to keep you warm and dry, get some ready made rigs, i just got some off e.bay 20 ready made rigs for under a tenner. get some 5oz weights. 15 to 20lbs line then 60lbs leader line. then you should be ready to start fishing, oh and don't forget your bait, hope this will be helpfull to you if you need any more help feel free to ask. |

where you from mate?
if there is anyone on here that is near you then maybe they could give you a sneaky peak into there box and/ or take you shopping (with your money of coarse).
remember any advice is personal preference i will bet you any money that there is no 2 people in the world that use exactly the same terminal tackle, rigs, lines, etc. take advice as a guide, give them a go if you like them and are confident with and do the job well then keep using them. if not then try something else that is highly recommended. |

OK my friend, you are not too far from me and I used to live at Eastney so know the territory: You have two reasonable price tackle shops - one in Elm Grove where they will feed you with a fair amount of local info and the other in Winter Road, Milton. The other guys dont seem to have told you that you must have a high quality stainless steel bait/gutting knife (mine is Swedish) and some stainless steel forceps for hook removal (they are absolutely essential and I never go without them) - first time you catch something which dam near swallows your hook you will find out what I mean. The bait/gutting knife needs to be kept razor sharp and it's no good thinking a good kitchen knife will do, IT WONT! Also get some quality stainless steel nail scissors - they are great for cutting line and trimming rigs. Use a 'memory free' line for your snoods - too expensive to put on yer reel but helps to reduce tangles etc on the business end. Never forget to take an old bit of towelling to hold fish with, trying to hold a squirming bass with his dorsal spikes can be a painful experience unless you have that bit of towel. A good quality stainless steel pocket knife can also be useful - I have a swiss army job meself and wouldn't be without it. Hope this helps, if you ver come to Hayling, give us a shout. |
