hiya im fairly new to sea fishing, and wonderd if anyone fishs westbay waymouth abbotsbury, areas often.i need help with my casting it seems the harder i swing the less distance i get,im only doing about 80 yards . if anyone who fish,s these areas and can help me please reply and we can arrange a date to fish. many thanks to you all and a happy new year. ohh yeah ill be at west bay tomorow night at around 7 fishing lol. |

Something like this is a start, and its practice.
Alot will have to do on what your casting and the tackle you use. Hope some one is close by to show you the works, but if not, read the long distance forum and seach around and see what else you can find.
You say 80yds, is that with bait? What equipment are you useing and what weight? |

it might be worth paying for a proffesional casting coach. everyone's style is different and a coach will work with what you've got rather than show you how they cast.
when you say swing the lead do you're pendulum casting?
how far can you get off the ground? |

wiggy,
i take it that you live in the area of the places you mentioned. there are casting comps on every month at dorchester. the next one is on january 15th and should be in the field behind the friary press just off the A35.
this is probably one of the best places to come and learn to cast. ( a casting comp ) i mean.
there are lots of good casters who come along to these events and many are more than willing to share there knowledge.
i normally announce the casting dates on this site. |
