During the summer, I was clearing out some of my dads stuff (R.I.P) for my mum
When I found his old beach rod from the 70s, so I though I would hang onto it
and have a go at beach fishing.

As I was off to Camber sands I took it along and picked up a multiplier reel and
a few bits from a tackle shop up there, and some advice that dungeness was a
good place to start
So we headed up there for a bit of makrel bashing, but the sea was cloudy and the fish
were not biting, all I caught was a small dragon fish (?)

so I had the bug and continued when I got home, driving to Pagham a few times, bognor as well, and also brighton marina (where I caught a small pot lol)

So, long story short, a lot of fishing, not a lot of fish, and an interessting learning curve, which all payed off last night when I caught my first codling

The point of this post is that I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posts here, as this is where I have gotten most of my practical knowledge !

I'm hooked now, with 3 rds, and a lot more gear, so bigger, and better to come I hope, with bass being the main target yet to be landed, as theres
a picture of a bass on my dads old rod :-)

So thanks all for all the advice, and good threads to read.

Well done on the codling. There will be plenty more where they came from.
