Was recently checking through the local marina around a week ago as I was told they have new stock. Sifted through loads of over-priced tourist attracting lures and rods then I suddenly came upon these:
This trace contains six feathered size 6/0 hooks and only cost 9p more than a 5 hook size 1/0 mackerel trace.
Is it worth stocking up on these, do they perform poorly or should I stick to using baits for cod?
And no, I have never caught a cod
I tried a few casts with these (only around 10) but the sea has been far too rough around here lately. |

Caught loads of nice bass with those this year, on the wrecks. |

Would you recommend them to a newbie casting from rocks in Wales? |

No but maybe jelly worms or gills, but they will work for cod, but only on deep water wrecks. |

So I would be wasting my time casting from rocks around 1 mile away from a harbour? |

I personally wont fish with any more than 3 hooks, even for mackrel, if I have a commercially bought trace, I cut out at least 2 hooks from a five hook trace. |

With feathers yes unless you want mainly mackerel. |

I only fished for 2 weeks of the Summer and don't want to see another Mackerel. (Well maybe if I don't catch anything all day y'know )
Thanks again rocket, been a great help.
Rabbi, that's exactly what I do. Cut them in half to create two traces of 3 hooks. |
