Just got back from felixstowe (midnight).
Nothing of any value to report, some of our team went up to fish the viewing area at the docks, dabs, whiting, pouting and rockling, didnt see the final total, so I will post a better report later today.
Fished from 1730 till 2300, high water was at 2120hrs, I had blanked up till 2200hrs, then a few whiting some under size (mostly) 1 over size 27cm.
I am fed up and shattered.
Ronnie
One of those days I suppose..............

Sorry to hear that your are fed up. I done felixstowe on the friday and whilst I did see fish caught (only whiting) Icaught nothing myself - I didn't really stick it out though..
Could it have been the small tides and good weather I wonder.
I reckon this friday will be a good'un.
I will do Shingle st, Felixstowe or may head towards Bawdsey. will do a report anyhow.
sad

Does not sound too good. Conditions have not been the best the last few days.
Always difficult if you can not choose your time to fit the best conditions.
Hopefully the windy weather will return this week and bring the fish back. Not certain yet but i'm planning a trip to Landguard Sunday later afternoon evening. Will post if I hear anything plus results of my efforts please do the same then we might hit on to some decent fishing.

Yup, Went down Languard Thursday evening (yesterday)
Bit of a cock-up really, started off getting down there without any rigs or weights because I had fogotten my tackle box. Had to go back for that. Then after 2 hours of 'birds nesting' (must have adjusted my reel wrong) our tilly packed up, shortly followed by the torch called it a night at that point. But on one of my verry few suscessful casts I did get a little flatty possibly a flounder im told. Spoke to the blokes next to me (obviously far more experienced than me) and they had been down since about 6pm.
They had caught: 9 Whiting, 2 keepers.
2 of decent codling
1 small flounder
1 or 2 pouting.

They were still fishing when I left so im sure they caught plenty more.

Hi
I've been able to see the site all week but not bothered to try and post as nothing to report.

Weather is looking very promising for the next few days strong wind and biggish tides. I'm hopeful. I know its not an Easterly but 20mph plus winds has got to do some good happy
I'm planning to go Languard Sunday but can not decide if it will be morning to fish the tide in and catch the last of Friday/Saturday's rough weather or leave it til afternoon and fish the tide out into darkness and risk the sea calming down.
Good to hear a few codling and better whiting are being caught even if only in smallish numbers.

Well fingers crossed and i will report any news.

Landguard Beach, Sunday 14.30 to 18.30 (HT 13.00)
Very bright when I arrived but with fairly strong cold wind off the land giving the sea a slight swell. Still had good colour from last few days rough weather.
About a dozen there when I arrived and couldn't get the spot I wanted (so fished a bit further to the right i.e. nearer the river mouth). Spoke to other anglers one who had fished Saturday as well, they reported fairly rough seas Friday and Saturday but nothing (just a couple of small whiting) had been caught.
I settled in and fished all the ebb and as far as I could tell, just like all the others, I didn't get a touch !
Presentation was OK, bait was excellent; I just don't think there were any feeding fish along that stretch of coastline.
May be a day of bright sunshine had not helped, perhaps the wind off the land had pushed them beyond my casting range. Not sure that to do next trip, possibly try a different venue.
Hope someone else has done better.

Hi Nick,

You were not alone at the week end, I didn't fish but my friend went to Alderburgh on Sunday and between 3 of them they had 1 small Flattie! so quiet all along the coast by the looks of it.

Yes i've now had a few others saying the same thing, very little caught off the suffolk beaches saturday or sunday despite the stirred up water and good tides.
Got a note from someone who boat fishes off Felixstowe he had really good sport on the flood Sunday, so the Cod is not extinct yet !

Sort of highlight of the evening was hearing a rustle on the shingle turning round and finding I had a spectator - a fox !
Hope he had a better evening than me big grin

Think it might be a boat trip next time !
