the wind was straight at us force 5-6 may be more i could cast barely 50 yards and the lad was so keen and wanted to try however trying to teach him how to cast was impossible
then the waves were big so no mackrell however after 4 hours to get there we had to try and he then cought his first ever fish a pout then a little codling only 1/2 pound but hes made up
we had a couple of bream and ten more pout
but no decent fish
only took 1-1/2 hours home anyway
when the conditions are like that i guess locals would do the right thing but after a long drive and want to fish can anyone tell me how to fish it or head elswhere
p s we were soked but he wants to go again just hope to get there befor the mackrell go

hi
i thought i would try fishing the dustbin at portland end late tide,, and only had pout pout and more pout that was the 30 aug,, luckly or not so lucky the wind was blowing from the north west , if the wind is blowing to strong from the west we go to the east side of portland or ferrybrige, but beware of the rocks on portland if you are going to night fish check it out in day light hours its worth the effort. you did good with the strong winds and rain sounds like you got a life time sea fishing buddy in the making , the next night i went to charmouth beach and only had pout again, made up for the next night with 13 thorn back ray and lots pout and very small flattys from westbay pier, not big but good fun on 4 lb line and a very light spinning rod.
cheers
